What is Yoga?

There are many definitions of Yoga and to me Yoga is to connect together ones body energy and mind energy, focusing on the breath, staying in ones fullest awareness on all levels.

  • SAT - Truth
  • CIT - Awareness
  • ANANDA - Bliss

When the body and awareness become connected merging awareness with the physical, our well being is enhanced. We can achieve small amounts of this easily through Yoga practice.

The key to the teaching is to adapt all aspects of teaching to individual and takes account of the physical strength, flexibility and stamina, the mental state, gender, culture, religion and lifestyle. While it is difficult to achieve this in group class setting it never the less my attempt to achieve this in my group classes. While it is easier to achieve this in one-to-one class sessions I always attempt to achieve the same in a group class setting.

Have you done Yoga before?

For Beginners

Everybody and anybody can do Yoga. My experience caters for the athlete as much as the person in the wheel chair. You wear loose clothing and bring a commitment to being at each class and you’re off!!

For Experienced

If you have done Yoga before I do very detailed work with the spine and the breath. The approach is demanding on the physical bringing people to their limitations, the approach works towards breath work and stillness at the end of each class. Body mind awareness is central.
